Cookie Policy
Review required before launch. This policy is a drafted starting point, not legal advice. Have it reviewed by a qualified adviser, replace every bracketed placeholder, and re-check the tables below against what your site actually sets once analytics and any plugins are configured.

1. What this policy covers
This policy explains how Whitehill IT Solution uses cookies and similar technologies on this website, what each one does, and how you can control them. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.
2. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. It lets the site remember things between page loads — that you are signed in, what is in your cart, or which colour theme you chose.
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them. First-party cookies are set by this website; third-party cookies are set by another domain, such as an analytics or payment provider.
3. Similar technologies we use
This site also uses your browser’s local storage and session storage. These are not cookies and are never sent to our server — they stay in your browser. We use them for small conveniences:
wh-theme— remembers whether you chose the light or dark appearance.wh-wishlist— remembers products you saved, so the list survives a page reload.wh-popup-…— records that you have already seen a welcome message, so it is not shown to you repeatedly.
You can clear these at any time by clearing site data for this website in your browser.
4. Cookies we use
4.1 Strictly necessary
These make the site work. They cannot be switched off through a consent banner, because the site would break without them.
wordpress_logged_in_*— keeps you signed in. Session or persistent if you chose “remember me”. First-party.wordpress_sec_*— secures authenticated requests in the admin area. First-party.wp-settings-*,wp-settings-time-*— remembers admin screen preferences for signed-in users. Up to 1 year. First-party.wp_woocommerce_session_*— links your browser to your cart and checkout data on the server. 2 days. First-party.woocommerce_cart_hash,woocommerce_items_in_cart— tell the site the cart has changed so totals stay correct. Session. First-party.comment_author_*,comment_author_email_*,comment_author_url_*— pre-fill the comment form if you have commented before. Up to 1 year. First-party.
4.2 Functional
woocommerce_recently_viewed— powers “recently viewed” listings, where enabled. Session. First-party.
4.3 Analytics
Analytics cookies help us understand which pages are useful and where people get stuck. They are only set if you consent, and only if we have configured an analytics provider.
At the time of writing, no analytics provider is configured on this site and no analytics cookies are set. If we enable one, the cookies below would apply and we will update this policy.
_ga— distinguishes visitors. 2 years. Third-party (Google Analytics)._ga_*— retains session state for a specific property. 2 years. Third-party._gid— distinguishes visitors. 24 hours. Third-party.
4.4 Payment and fraud prevention
When you reach checkout, our payment provider may set its own cookies to process the transaction and detect fraud. These are governed by that provider’s own cookie and privacy notices. See [PAYMENT PROVIDER NAME] at [PAYMENT PROVIDER PRIVACY URL].
4.5 Marketing
We do not currently use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before setting them.
5. Embedded content
Pages may embed content from other sites, such as video players or maps. Those providers can set their own cookies and collect usage data as if you had visited them directly. We do not control those cookies. Where possible we use privacy-friendly embed options.
6. Your choices
6.1 Consent
Where we use non-essential cookies, we ask for your consent first and you can change or withdraw it at any time at [CONSENT SETTINGS LINK OR INSTRUCTIONS]. Withdrawing consent does not remove cookies already set — clear them in your browser as described below.
6.2 Browser controls
All major browsers let you see, block and delete cookies, usually under Settings then Privacy. Blocking all cookies will break sign-in and checkout on most websites, including this one. Vendor instructions:
- Chrome — Settings › Privacy and security › Third-party cookies
- Firefox — Settings › Privacy & Security › Cookies and Site Data
- Safari — Settings › Privacy
- Edge — Settings › Cookies and site permissions
6.3 Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Browsers may send a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. There is no single agreed standard for responding to Do Not Track. We do not set non-essential cookies without consent regardless of these signals.
7. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the cookies we use change. The “last updated” date above shows the most recent revision.
8. Contact
Questions about this policy can be sent to [PRIVACY CONTACT EMAIL], or by post to [COMPANY POSTAL ADDRESS].
